O’Malley Announces Candidacy for 101ST District

The Voice of Northern Michigan” Announces his

Intention to Run for the Michigan House of Representatives

Lake Ann, MI – Longtime WTCM morning radio host Jack O’Malley today announced his run for the Michigan House of Representatives 101st District. O’Malley, a resident of Almira Township, announced his intention to run on his popular radio show this morning.

Jack O’Malley said, “I’ve spent over 30 years, every weekday morning, having a discussion with the people of Northern Michigan. I’ve interviewed politicians, business and community leaders and plain folks all over our area – and have done my best to promote all the great things we have to offer as a community on the radio. Now, it’s time to turn the page. I intend to take the same passion, patriotism and perseverance to the State Legislature in Lansing and fight for the people of Northern Michigan there.”

The 101st district is currently represented by Rep. Curt VanderWall. Recently, VanderWall announced his intention to run for the Michigan State Senate and will not able to run again for the House of Representatives. O’Malley will run for the Republican nomination in August and touts his conservative beliefs of lower taxes, less government and more freedom while caring for those who are unable to care for themselves.

I think it’s time for some common-sense solutions in Lansing. We have serious issues facing our state and we need someone in office who knows what people are going through. From veterans to farmers, business owners to parents – there’s a lot of people who need help. Everyday I listen to the challenges people are facing and I know I can help. It seems that more and more problems are solved by serving the interests of the government instead of the serving the interests of the people. I want to take our stories to Lansing and fight for Northern Michigan. Enough of the ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach. The challenges we face here are different than what they face in Southeast Michigan and I intend to fight for us. Just as I have for the last 30 years, I intend to use my voice to help make life better for people.”

O’Malley said, “Over the coming weeks and months I will be attending meetings, going door-to-door, and hosting coffee hours throughout Benzie, Leelenau, Manistee and Mason counties. I will answer any questions and be available to every voter. Today, more than ever, we need a representative who knows what people are going through and has the backbone to take on the tough issues.”

O’Malley said this morning that he intends to step down from his radio show on April 24th.

O’Malley is hosting two camapign kickoff parties. Thursday, March 8th at 6pm at Papa J’s in Lake Ann
(18557 Maple Street, Lake Ann, MI) and Saturday, March 10
th at 10am in Manistee at the Bungalow Inn (1100 28th St, Manistee, MI.).
